If a person accidently vomits in your car, the smell can stick around no matter how much you try to clean it up. When the vomit settles into the fibers of the carpeting and upholstery, there is almost always bacteria and food particles that are left behind. As the heat rises in the vehicle and the air becomes stagnant, odors can resurface causing embarrassment and sensitivity to the scents that you thought you had removed. By using some all natural products instead of commercialized items that may carry heavy perfumes, you can rid the smell from you car by using products that won't stain fabrics and are safe from harsh chemicals.

Step 1

Lightly sprinkle a half of box of baking soda onto the area and surrounding areas where the vomit is located.

Step 2

Allow the baking soda to set for two hours.

Step 3

Vacuum up the baking soda.

Step 4

Fill a spray bottle with one part warm water and one part household vinegar.

Step 5

Lightly spray the area where the vomit is located.

Step 6

Scrub the area well with a scrub brush and then pat dry with a washcloth or towel.

Step 7

Place two boxes of opened baking soda in the front and rear of the vehicle.

Leave the baking soda boxes in your vehicle for up to two months or until the odor has fully dissipated.

Tips

  • Make sure that the vomit has been completely cleaned up before you try to get rid of the smell.
  • Be careful that the baking soda boxes do not spill in your vehicle.
  • Use a shop vac or small vacuum to vacuum up the baking soda that you will be cleaning with.

Things You'll Need

  • Spray bottle.
  • Warm water.
  • Scrub brush.
  • 3 small boxes of baking soda.
  • Vacuum.
  • Vinegar.
  • Washcloth or towel.

Warnings

  • Do not use chemicals in your vehicle after you have used the vinegar solution, as this could cause a reaction.
